Who we are
ZapTools runs the free tools at https://zaptools.net. This notice is for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom (GDPR) and in the United States, including California (CCPA/CPRA). Contact: hi@zaptools.net.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not set our own analytics or advertising cookies.
- We do not keep a database of visitors or of the content you type into tools that run in the browser.
Tools that stay on your device
Most tools run only in your browser. That includes text tools, calculators, hashes, formatters, generators, image to Base64, and JWT decode. The text, numbers, images, and files you enter stay on your device. ZapTools does not receive them and does not store them.
Tools that send a value you submit
These tools send only the value you choose to submit, and only after you press the button. We do not keep a copy:
- Short URL sends the URL to TinyURL so it can return a short link.
- Suggest Queries sends the keyword to Google Suggest.
- Top URL sends the keyword to SerpAPI when that service is configured.
- SSL Check opens a TLS connection from our server to the hostname you enter.
- Ping checks whether the hostname you enter responds. The hostname is not saved in a database.
Cookies and storage on your device
- We do not set a tracking cookie for visitors.
- Your browser may store a light or dark theme choice in local storage, under the key theme. It stays on your device. Clear site data in the browser to remove it.
- If the operator later turns on an ad slot, the ad network may set its own cookies. Those companies are separate from ZapTools. Ad slots are off unless the operator enables them.
Connection logs
The server that hosts zaptools.net may keep ordinary connection logs: IP address, date, URL, and browser type. They are used to keep the site available and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build a marketing profile, and we do not sell them. The host deletes them on its usual log rotation.
Legal bases
If GDPR applies, we process a request you submit because you asked us to run that tool, and we keep short-lived security logs because we have a legitimate interest in running a safe site. We do not rely on consent for non-essential cookies, because we do not set them.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because we do not keep accounts or tool input, we usually have nothing to return beyond a connection log, if one still exists. Email hi@zaptools.net. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those words are used in the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
